If you start a hike at tater hole and follow the trail into lakeside park, there will be a small creek leading into a cove that my family's children love to wade in. There are also numerous beaches on the trail by the lake.
There is a walking trail, if you're looking at the lake, to the right; it is a long hike but there are some nice spots to get in that are shallow. I don't recommend getting in the water around the boat launch. There is a lot of fishing tackle in the water there.
