Personally I feel this experience is more for adults. There were a couple of teens sitting near us and all they did was talk loud and laugh. If you can't sit quietly, admire all around you the beauty of this exhibit, then you need to stay home. Just being honest. This is an exhibit were you sit, watch, listen, learn and feel. Children and teens don't have the ability to handle all those things at once.
Hi! We find that kids enjoy this immersive experience! There is no age restriction for kids. Ages 6 to 16 require a child ticket. Children 5 and under do not require a ticket. Some do find the exhibit a bit loud for babies, so if you have a pair of baby bands, bring them along. You can read all about the ticket types at https://www.vangoghnyc.com/faq/#hfaq-post-23709.
I agree with Elda Ramirez. When my husband and I were there, 4 adults walked around talking loudly, taking photos of each other and not taking in the presentation, it was a total distraction. The exhibit is a visual, meditative experience. Ask yourself if your children and others in your party can handle that.
Kids allowed, there is a youth ticket
