Charleen, our research indicates that Dr. Alexander Vass and his wife Mary Ann Thornton Vass built the house in the late 1790s to early 1800. The house was later added on to by later owners. No reference to Wm Fitzhugh has been uncovered.
I don't know that, but I do know that they owned slaves.
