How can I find out if someone is working in New York City saying they are a senior FBI agent who emailed me 2 years ago and is working on my case of fruad international internet.

First off, check the domain if the email address. It should either be @fbi.gov or @ic.fbi.gov.
Second, you can just call the office and ask them to verify the individual contacting you.
