I had to resort to seeking assistance from my elected representative to get a response to my application 5 months following my husband's death. Multiple trips to 48th street when no one would answer phone. Same experience- they pick up phone, I can hear them clearing throat, shuffling papers, but will say nothing.
GatGo
Super slow, and they want to tell the public they can take picture in a public area.

If i could leave minus stars i would. Been trying to call since December to change my address and obtain awards letter for city voucher renewal. I could lose my apartment. NO ONE EVER ANSWERS. I cant do online bc im locked out ( 4got password and a new 1 mailed didnt work). Why so many complaints and nothing has been done. What do they do there? The (non) workers are playing with peoples lives. Very depressed and dont know what to do smh

Yes I do
I need to apply for Medicare B Do I need to make an appointment to come to the SS office?
I need an award letter. What days and hours is this office open
No. It takes 6 WEEKS to get a replacement social security card and you have to go to a SSA OFFICE and order it first
Passport and my working autorisation
For Manhattan: You need to go to the 123 William street, Third Floor location for replacement cards.
You can go into any social security office near where you are located at with the proper I.D to get a replace social security card . [Please not that social security cards are mailed to your address and not given in person . All social security places close at early on Wed!!! Hope I helped !!!
For Manhattan: You need to go to the 123 William street, Third Floor location for replacement cards.
Yes, but only certain offices issue them. Not sure which ones, so call.
Yes, but at the 123 Williams Street NY (Lower Manhattan)
If you don't wanna be waiting outside on line thatd be smart ,but for the most part no appointment is needed
No. Not really. If you need a card , some places will send you to another place SSA I believe don't want to steer you wrong just want to be helpful. Wish you luck..
I really could not tell you as I've only been there twice and I was not helped because there were too many people waiting you have to schedule an appointment or call one of the 800 numbers for Social Security and ask them and they will direct you
More than likely you will never get an answer over the phone. Been there, done that. Where are you located?
You can but probably over the phone since this location is closed for now because of Covid-19.
Probably but this location is closed for the moment.
No they are not open ,they have a number on the door for you to call and speak to someone. But the office is not open.
I believe you might need to do that in person at one of their offices. Call SS, or find additional information on their website: https://www.ssa.gov.
Apply online first to start the process. Then go up there after u finish applicatiom. They will give you a day to come back to bring documents and anything elese u may need.
No appointment needed, you just walk in and take a number. It's like the DMV.
3-4 hours waiting
No. You can walk in any day EXCEPT for Wednesday
9am but people start lining up at 8am
You can call Social security's 800 number or visit the office in person to reschedule your appointment.
No. You can jus go in get a ticket and wait a few minutes and you'll have the information needed. It's pretty fast
Any
Walk-ins are allowed but best early morning. Sometimes after a certain time they tell u no more walk-ins
She have to be there with you
No. The location to apply for a new card is in lower Manhattan
Yes you do
Yes if you get ssi benefits or social security benefits make sure that you bring proof of address like a rent receipt or lease also please bring your proof of who you are like your driver's license or STATE ID and your social security card and your birthday certificate just in case .
Its better for you to have an appointment because if you don't you will be waiting there for 6 hours or more
You don't need to. Just show up to the office and they'll call you within half hour or so
No you have to go to a different office for your social security card the office goes by your zip code that you live in
Tuesday
It depends on the service request and Field Office requirements. Pls go on line to myssa.gov to get the most accurate information.
No appt required but We do not process replacement cards at this location. Go on myssa.gov to find the "Card Center" nearest you.
No. Go on line @ usajobs.gov
Call the 1800 number
William Street is the one you need to go.
You can get an application but you can't get a physical card at this location
Yes
well you can start with a birth certificate and even if you have an old voters registration card but you need something notarized qn affidavit made regarding you
You can go to the social security office at 123 Williams st in Manhattan or you can request one by mail.
Yes u can online as well as if you were to go into the Social Security administration's building there is a kiosk that you can create a appointment for a later date
If you want to get attended to right away you should definitely make an appointment they have a lot of people waiting in there I was fortunate enough at my last appointment which I made for 10 I showed up at 9 I was out of there by 1
I think it will be open. You could call the SSI to make extra sure.
If you arrive at 8.00 to 9.00am you might be able to speak to someone about benefits. However if you go later you can make an appointment with one of the agents when your number is called.
I went the first time just to ask general questions I did not have an appointment I had to take a number but then you have the group of people who make appointments so they can sit down or discuss their whole matter so I have my next appointment January 11th I waited almost three months for that appointment
If you mean a replacement Social Security card the answer is no.However they can give you the addresses where you can obtain a SS card.
Usually 9pm to 4pm
It depends on what you need. But generally no. When you get there, they will try to attend to you but if extremely busy they will give you an appointment to come back.
No you do not usually need an appointment for most general matters. However you might need one if it is a special matter.
There is a direct number look on internet the wait is about an our its better to go to your local office for an appointment
You willing to wait for hours and hours you probably can but you need to call the number to many people there they don't have a good system
No. I had same issue. Went without appt and no problem. HOWEVER they asked for my birth cert. I had my drivers license but they said since l had only had 1 SS card and never replaced it, they needed my birth cert. My advice, bring all the ID you have just in case.
I don't think so.
Don't know. I would imagine you can do it in any city (since it's the Federal gov't), but don't know for sure.
You can go in a file a application , they will give you an appointment to come back with all your proof and medication.
Nope. It's speedy service too. Faster to go there then call SS on the phone. They're also super nice and helpful.
Did u find the asnwer?
Only at the main SS office downtown. These other small offices don't replace cards.
I went for my lifetime detailed earnings printout with no appointment. I'm not sure if for other services you need an appointment. My opinion is no because it works like a DMV where you choose a service from a kiosk and then get a ticket number printed by the kiosk and wait until your number is called. So appointments don't seem to be important there.
No you do not.
They are open but they close Really early [at 12pm ] on weds
yes
What I have to bring if I need to update my new name
