It just got paved in 2014. However, you have to enter in from the south (Wellington). If you enter from the north (Wellsdraw), it is not paved and gets contantly washed out.
We just went there in July. Most of the road is paved. The last mile or so is dirt and a little rough. But we made it easily in a crossover. Just not ideal for the suspension or tires.
