As for history, it's the dream home of William Randolph Hearst, newspaper tycoon of the 20th century. As for amazing-ness, it's a pretty incredible feat of architecture (designed but the first woman to get an architect license in CA!), and it's outright outlandish. He would host incredible weekend-long parties for everyone from movie stars to politicians, and would bankroll the whole thing. Overall, it's a fun and beautiful place to visit, if only to imagine that you were lucky enough to be invited by Hearst himself. Hope this helps!
It's the history of the family and the furniture and art pieces that are from all over the world, that just make it beautiful to see! On a sunny day, the views are gorgeous! It's 1600 feet elevation makes it's views amazing!
To me, just the view on the hill was amazing. Much of the architecture is not just put together from that time frame but many different things from centuries before. Really a museum in itself, not to mention all the famous people who have visited the castle.
This is the home of the newspaper tycoon built in the last century, and has received many politicians and movie stars.
Just go see it is so amazing!
