You don't need REAL ID for domestic flight until it becomes mandatory in October 2020. When you renew your lucense before it expires on 4/13/20, you can apply for REAL ID.
It's called the Real ID drivers license. You need one if you plan on traveling anywhere by plane in the continental US. Google search Real ID for more information.
