Yes it was the last assignment for G A. Custer & Libby. I strongly advice going & checking it out. Call ahead & find out I'd the frontier army will be there on the weekend. IF THEY ARE plan on going & arriving about 10:00 Saturday morning & stay for the entire day. Live demonstrations of period rifle, drill by the infantry, precise horse riding drills by the cavalry & many unexpected happening. HOWEVER, I would like to correct Ryan about not calling him Colonel. I was a reactor with the army. "Colonel" was used by the military personal. It was civilians that aren't suppose to call him Colonel.

Yes. This was Custer's last assignment. He and the 7th were assigned to Ft. Abraham Lincoln in 1873 until they rode west to the Little Bighorn in 1876. His house has been reconstructed on site and is available for guided tours with actors playing the part of members of the 7th Cav...but the guides will tell you, "don't call him colonel!" ;)
