How do I go about selling a (1729) 300 year old original Stratevarius violin? It was authenticated in Chattanooga Tennessee at Wyett Appraisal & Auction House. My grandfather found it in an old Mansion, on Missionary Ridge Road over 60 years ago.

Christie's auctioned a watch for my family a few weeks ago. My wife contacted them via email and it went from there. The entire organization is the most professional and welcoming group I have dealt with in a long time.

How long was the whole selling process?

Call Christie's and they will put you in touch with the proper person to appraise your violin. Then, if they agree and can authentcate it (includithe provenance) they will give you an idea of how much (within a range) you can expect for it. The next step is when the auction takes place. (It could be an online auction) Using Christie's you will find that they are very nice and professional. Give them a call!
