Guided, and quite informative. I think you can wander on your own, but the tour comes with the admission anyway.
I wandered around. Its a pretty open field from the street entrance. The official entrance is gated to keep cars out.

I would call ahead and ask about times for tours and the you can wander around outside after the tour, which was very informative.
