The stairs are 72 steps down. Steep, but there are at least two landings with seating, so folks who can't do all of them continuously can take a break. From the bottom, it's an uncovered paved lot to the cave entrance.
They do. The caverns are under ground so the only exposure you would have is the walk down to the entrance which is a gazillion stairs. The stairs are covered by a roof but open on the sides.
I'm not sure about that but there are a couple of areas where you will be exposed to the elements. It is not covered all the way.
They do. The walk down is covered but may still be wet. There is no rain in the cave but in the waiting area outside you could potentially get wet.
