Check the website at dmv.ny.gov for a list of documents accepted as proof of identity. If you aren't eligible for a social security card, you need to bring in your ineligibility letter from the social security office. If you aren't a citizen yet, bring in your resident card or work authorization card and foreign passport and any other documents pertaining to your status. If you have a social security card, bring it. Bring a proof of address, like a phone bill or pay stub.
