You can apply for a permit online and go to your local sheriff department to complete paperwork. Now, it's taking 2 to 3 months because of large number of request.
??? You do not have a need to register a firearm. Perhaps I am not understanding your question. You do have to pay for a permit to purchase from the Sherriff Dept unless you have a concealed carry permit but this is not a registration of your firearm.
