Go to DMV and ask for a new registration / transfer of ownership with a lost pink slip.. Its easy.

Or AAA. Did you get a bill of sale? If you got it from a friend have him write a release of liability form giving you the bike. You can also get that form online at CA.DMV.GOV or DMV. Just make sure he or she includes the VIN mbr on the release form.
