We went to cumberland island and had a great time. The staff were excellent and knowledgeable. Would recommend as a day trip but bring your walking shoes! Saw wild horses, dolphins, and deer.

The island on foot is a great experience especially if you take the 9 am ferry and return at 5 pm. I would recommend walking and after the ruins head towards the marshes and dunes, and finally to find a perfect spot to rest by the ocean. Also at the very end of your stay walk north in a beautiful forest and hide from the brutal sunlight. I would say online reservation is a must. Pay online and do not forget to check in with the national park half hour before the departure (the latest)
The ferry is 30 per person and the park fee is 10 a person it is worth every penny
