It's very difficult to get inside the White House but this place gives you an idea what was inside of it in the past.

What kind of information does one need to provide to be able to see White House?
You can have bags and backpacks in the visitor center but there is a screening. For the tour of the White House itself (not this location) you can't bring bags.
The visitor center is open 7:30am to 4pm every day.
Yes that is right. You have to submit an application 3 to 9 months out with everyone that would be going. Then about a week before, you would be contacted by email with conformation with the date and time. However you can walk around the outside of the White House anytime of day.
Just show up. No ticket needed for the visitor center.
No, anyone is welcome at the visitor center. There's a metal detector at the door.
Once you enter you will see the China Room and 2 other rooms.in the lower level you then go up stairs to the East room , Green room, Blue Room, Red Room, and the State Dining Room, Down the main Hall and out the Front Door...Thats it.
h
No. It's down the street across the lights to the actual visitor entrance. To get a proper view it's down a half block either way
There is no specific parking for the White House Visitor Center. Just park in the nearest garage and walk in (during the museum's open hours).
You have to go on your Senate Representatives page and go to tours and sign up. It all goes through your Representatives now. And it usually takes a few weeks to get confirmation. It's not a fast turn around. You will get email from the office from the reps office. If you want a tour soon not this week you better put the plan in motion.
Congressman or your Embassy -a month in advance
The Visitor Center is part of a separate building a couple blocks from The White House. Inside you can read about The White House and the history it holds. There is also a short movie there and a gift shop. To tour the actual White House, that is a separate thing which you have to fill out an application ahead of time online.
You can just walk in
I used the Spot hero app to find the right parking for me balancing cost, location, flexibility, and safety.
No. To many barriers due to, to many idiots that do stupid things.
Absolutely free. You just have to go through the security check, like at an airport.
I did not see any coin lockers.
Not sure, I would have thought it would have reopened, at least for three weeks until the next shutdown.
No reservation needed..just inquire upon entry for tour schedule
Majority of the places to park are very expensive. You may want to try some public transportation.
We submitted ours end of June got notified in September for a September 14th visit.....so about couple months......
I didn't take anything other than my phone and license.I figured better play it safe and take the bare minimum.
Lots of souvenirs in the gift shop. Pens, keychains, cups, postcards, etc..
Park out near a Metro Station and take the Metro in. We stayed at a hotel near Dulles and took the bus in to L'Enfant and Metro all over DC with a couple of Lyft rides when we needed to go a short distance fast.
You can bring in your backpack. They will check it though. Pictures are allowed too.
They have bike bars or benches where you can lock them if you want. Not sure how high the stroller jacking is in D.C.
There is a schedule, don't know when Rolling Thunder date. House closed on Holidays.
Tuesday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays (excluding federal holidays or unless otherwise noted). Tour hours will be extended when possible based on the official White House schedule.
White House website will direct you how to apply for a visit. You may also contact your House of Representative member. Their website will also have information.
Public tour requests must be submitted through one's Member of Congress. These self-guided tours are generally available Tuesday through Saturday (excluding federal holidays or unless otherwise noted). Tours are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. Requests can be submitted up to three months in advance and no less than 21 days in advance. You are encouraged to submit your request as early as possible as a limited number of spaces are available. The White House tour is free of charge. Please note that White House tours may be subject to last minute cancellation. If you wish to visit the White House and are a citizen of a foreign country, please contact your embassy in Washington, D.C. for assistance in submitting your request. This is according to the National Park Service website. There's a link to the different Representatives at the same website that you can email to petition for access.
Free for the visitor center. White House tours free as well but arrangements made through your Congress Person.
There are no tours of the visitor center. Just show up during open hours.
The White House Visitor Center is NOT the same (thing, building or place) as when visiting the "actual" White House! At the Visitor Center, you CAN take backpacks, etc. inside with you!!! Unlike the Capitol Building or Library of Congress... here, we were told to put everything "inside" our backpacks (food, water bottles, etc) and once we did that, we placed our bags on the belt, (just like at the airport) and they were x-rayed... We walked through the metal detector, picked up our packs and went on... The VC is definitely secure, but it's NOT the White House!!!
Sorry for taking the time to answer! Yes! The White House Visitor Center accessible to people with reduced mobility. You will have to go through security that includes metal detectors, such as airport security, but you can easily use around the building. Please forgive my French, it has been awhile and I rely on Google Translate for my verbal times! - Good luck!
Sorry for taking the time to answer! I do not think there is a limit to the number of people who can visit the White House Visitor Center. But it's different from the White House. In order to visit the White House, you must obtain passes. In the United States, citizens must go through their senators or representatives. For foreign nationals, you must contact your embassy in Washington DC. In the United States, we are invited to make this request at least 21 days before our visit and are not guaranteed a passage to the White House, I suggest, if you wish to try to visit the White House, reach out to you as early as possible. Please, forgive my French because it's been a long time, and I'm counting on Google translate for some of my verb tenses!
