It means that you and your immediate family members (spouse + children) have access to all the facilities within the center. It does not include extended family members (parents, cousins, siblings, etc.).
Yes, these guys have it right. When you purchase a family pass you will give them the names and birthdates of your family members. This allows them to keep track of the memberships. When each person visits the fitness center for the first time the staff will take their pictures and assign that photo to their membership record. Then reach person will get the opportunity to choose an 8 digit personal ID number. After that every time that the member comes back to the fitness center they'll enter that personal ID number and their photo will flash up on the screen. It is pretty slick.
