During a epldural spinal inject I experienced a severe pain down my leg. The physician aborted procedure. Suggest try again using mild oral sedative. Is this normal?

There so many nerve endings surrounding your spine and many connect down your leg. It is very common and easy to bump one of those nerves during that type of procedure. The suggestion sounds like the numbing injection isn't as effective for your body and an additional mild oral sedative should help numb during the procedure. If you tighten up or jerk from the pain it could cause damage rather than just temporary discomfort so it sounds like everything is mostly normal and worth trying again with sedative and stronger dose of numbimg medicine. I'm not a doctor or expert, just an injured veteran that's been poked many times!
