Be his coach, interact and be active with him!
Bribe him with treats if he is good on a walk, let him run around the park or your backyard and chase each other, try going to a dog park where he can get excited and play with other dogs or even put him on a treadmill on a very low speed and have a treat dangled down in front of him to motivate him to run
Walk him start short then increase distance. Get him a friend!
