The colour is green old

Karlamarie, yes that is true. It is made of copper sheeting, so when new it looked like an American penny. It has now turned 'Statue of Liberty green' after reacting with oxygen/weather. It is also very thin, the thickness of 2 pennies back to back. I learned this just this week. I recommend the 'free' audio tour if you visit liberty island! (Included with the ferry ticket) Very interesting indeed.
