Good morning! Thank you for reaching out. We treat every pet as an individual and, in instances of extreme medical or behavioral issues, sometimes humane euthanasia is the kindest option. That said, it is always a last resort. We are dedicated to helping homeless pets in Loudoun County while ensuring we protect the interests and safety of pets and people at all times. Pets at LCAS do not have a "time limit" and, in fact, most dogs are currently adopted within 6 days of arriving at the LCAS animal shelter. That is very fast! Cats currently average around two weeks which is quicker than the national average. LCAS is lucky to be surrounded by a supportive community and it means LCAS has far more resources (tax funding, donations, volunteers, and fosters) to assist shelter pets than many municipal shelters. We welcome visitors during adoption hours. The staff are more than happy to answer questions about the department and any available pets.
Sorry, I don't know. I can ask next time I am there.
Are you having to give your family pet up? They will try to adopt out and only in seriously needed cases do they euthanize animals. Sometimes they send them to other no kill shelters hoping they get adopted out
I was told that they're not a "no kill" shelter, but they only use euthanasia whej absolutely necessary
I do not know if they perform euthanasia.
