I work down town if you stay at the Wyndham the parking is free the rest of the hotels you will be charged for parking. The museum charges for tickets but we'll worth it. There is a kids museum and the old state capital is donations. The Wyndham hotel is all walking distance. The La Pizza has great menu and their lunch menu is really good. The cafe moxo, saptuos, cold stone and couple more restaurants that are very good to eat at. The meter parking is supposed to be turned back on may 1st at least that is what the meter readers are saying. The shops down town are pretty neat they have unusual things.

Tickets are not needed. There is a below ground garage you can access from 6th Street, but parking at meters is commonly available. And per the city of Springfield website, parking is currently free at meters until further notice.
