I wasn't allowed to bring my 5th grade daughter at the time even though she was a witness to something that never happened. I was told she had to be 16. I had no choice but to leave her in the little lobby right outside the courtroom. I was worried about her.
It is preferred that you don't because if the nature of business discussed, and the ability of children to remain quiet, but if you have no other option at times they will allow it.
