I am considering a cruise which stops in Charleston in December 2017. What lasting effects from recent hurricanes can I expect?

The "Holy City " is as beautiful as ever. There was minimal damage in the downtown area. Enjoy!!

I concur with others. In the immediate aftermath there was sand and debris on some of the roads, but it has long since been cleared.

The only effects from the recent hurricane I experienced was that tours of Fort Sumter were closed due to damage to the dock. The rest of the city was fine.

We just returned from Charleston last Thurs. We saw no evidence of hurricane irma which put 4 ft of water on Market st where City Market is located. Charleston is accustomed to flooding and tidal surges. It recovers quickly. Go for it! You'll love Charleston.

I don't think any that would interfere with your vacation. The flooding experienced downtown had subsided but should be expected during any rain event combined with high tides.
