Are there any books detailing the Civil/Revolutionary War that I could purchase before my visit in March?

A Gallant Defense by Carl Borick, Director of the Charleston Museum is great for the Rev war. For Civil War I'd recommend Milby Burton's The Seige of Charleston.

Check out the Preservation Society of Charleston for recommendations. There are also several bookstores in Charleston who might make recommendations. Buxton Books comes to mind.

I'm sure a good book store will have what your looking for however the question came up as being about the visitors center and though it had numerous free informational pamphlets about things to do in Charleston it doesn't have books not sell anything
