Maybe a clearer answer Chris - most all homes in our region of the country are framed with Spruce and Fir - that would be your typical stud wall and plate framing, etc. When building on a slab foundation the bottom plate that contacts the concrete has to be treated and it is yellow pine. Then you have other structural members in the home, like window headers and they are all yellow pine - trade term Southern Yellow Pine. This lumber comes from our larger typical Pine Trees (have never heard reference in framing material to White Pine?). In certain cases where larger loads are carried the use of a laminated beam or LVL may also be used such as in garage door headers. In any case, whether you are building million dollar homes or affordable homes such as Red Door does, the material species is the same. Hope this helps.

Hi Chris! Great question. The answer depend on the home itself or where specifically you may be referencing but could be both or a mixture of the species. Give us a call anytime with questions at 910-218-8750. We look forward to speaking with you !
