It's possible to find on street parking within a 20min walk of the Met. You can easily find nearby parking garages as well. But I would recommend leaving your car and taking Uber to the front door on Fifth Ave. The Met is huge with lots of walking & standing involved in a visit. So arrive rested & relaxed without the car park problem.
I agree with Nancy Austin, leave your car and take a cab or the subway, parking is going to be pretty rough around the museum. And parking garages might turn out to be pricey. Skip the headache of driving and let someone else do it for you!
There is one next to the museum. Opened 24 hours.
On 5th Ave just past the MMOA building make a hard right into the underground parking garage. The garage has walk in access to the MMOA.
