There is a recommended donation of $25 for adults but you can give what you feel is appropriate.
After Mar 1st, 2018, if you're a NY state resident the policy of paying what you feel is appropriate will continue, but if you're visiting from out-of-state you'll pay $25.
On March 1, 2018, The Met is updating its admissions policy as follows: For New York State residents as well as New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut students, admission will continue to be pay-as-you-wish. Please be as generous as you can. For visitors from outside New York State, there will be a mandatory admission fee: $25 for adults, $17 for seniors, and $12 for students. Admission for all children under 12 and Members and Patrons will continue to be free.
