Yes, the entrance is at East 81st Street and 5th Avenue (to the left of the grand staircase at East 82nd Street).
I didnt see any before the stairs but if you ask a guardian or someone from the museum I know they could help you! They are really good! I have a problem with my knee and they open elevator for me:)
There is a separate entrance for disabled on street level. Call first to confirm location.
