Absolutely, and meet it as well. The handlers encourage anyone who will spend time with the pet to meet / play with it to see how you interact together. They may ask questions of you also to see if you will be a good fit.

Yes, the shelter actually invites/requires that all of the family members who will be residing in the home with the animal to come into the shelter. Everyone goes into a separate room all together with the pet and a volunteer or two so that everyone is observed with the animal to make sure the animal and the family members nteract well.
