LPT: save your bands and order different colors on next visit. You can mix and match colors between the bracelets and the inserts/brains.
If you book far enough in advance they will be mailed and in your my Disney login you can select the colors. If you book very close to your planned arrival then you'll be given the generic grey ones at check in. If you get the grey ones and want something more colorful or special they sell a wide range of magic bands with all sorts of Disney characters, colors, and designs on them in the gift shops. You can "switch" the bands using the Disney App to activate a new band you buy and deactivate the standard one issued at check in.

I didn't get any cutesy stuff, but the bands are typically mailed in advance (so remember to bring them!), you can personalize up to a few weeks in advance. Otherwise they ship grey ones. Have fun!
