Hi Jacob. The shelter doesn't coordinate spay and neuters of animals outside of the St. Joseph Animal Shelter, except for the Animal Kind low-income program. Is this what you are referring to? St. Joseph Animal Control and Rescue is partnered with a grant program called Animal Kind and a local Veterinarian to provide these services. The copay will vary based on income and is a minimum of $20, unless otherwise approved. The remainder of the costs is covered by the Animal Kind program and made possible by a participating veterinarian that offer these discounted rates to the program. Please contact Jennifer Lockwood, the Humane Educator at the animal shelter, at 816-271-5363 to fill out an application by phone or stop by the shelter during normal business hours. Please be prepared to show proof of income. You will have to arrange transportation to and from the local veterinarian.
