If I need my ID replaced due to it being lost do they give it to you that day or does it take weeks to come in the mail ?

make sure you bring proof of residence your social security birth certificate just in case they need it, but they will give it to you that day

So the proof of id can be accepted in place of an actual one ?

Not anymore. New law went into effect on july 01. They give you now a paper thats is gonna be your proof of an id until you get it by mail.
