Hello, Im traveling to NY in October. My return flight leaves from LGA around 2 pm. This is my first time in NY and I was wondering how much time I should set aside to get there and arrive to board on time. Thanks :)

It depends on how you are getting there and whether you have Clear and/or TSA/Pre. If you are being dropped off and have all these, an hour should be fine. If you don't, you should allow at least 2 hours to get to the terminal, plus the time to get from car rental to terminal which can take an additional hour if you are really unlucky.

2-3 hours

If you have to return a rental car, then set aside 2.5 hours for travel time and we saw road repair construction reduced a four lane highway to just one lane to repair pot holes.. Either way, ask Google Maps and then double it because TSA has slow lines when their staff levels are unavailable...

I flew LGA to YYZ two weeks ago on a Friday evening. I put aside about 3 hours and was probably sitting around at the terminal for an hour and a half of that. I would recommend at the very least 2 hrs; 3 would be ideal

Where will you be leaving from? And what day of the week will you be traveling to LaGuardia to leave New York?
