My flight lands in charlotte at 11:50pm from Miami and my flight to New York isn't until 7:35am. Am I allowed to stay in the airport over night and wait for my flight?

Yes you can, the airport has very comfortable seating and what not.

Police sweep the concourses and tell passengers they have to stay overnight outside the secured area (baggage claim). The airport is not open 24 hours. If there are multiple cancellations, the Red Cross will come in and provide cots and blankets, first come first serve on D Concourse.
