I pretty sure they do call ahead yes they are very pet friendly
We just stayed the last 2 weeks of December 2018. They allow certain breeds of dogs. I think the pet charge is $50. We had our chocolate lab with us. Another guest told us they wouldn't except his Rottweiler.
