La Purisima Concepcion was the 11th Mission built along the Camino Real. It followed the establishment of the 9th Mission San Buenaventura and the 10th Mission Santa Barbara, heading north towards Mission San Antonio (the 3rd mission). Each Mission established was purposely placed to reduce times, attempting to obtain only a day's travel between missions along the Camino Real.
