I am a Humana Gold Plus HMO medicare member. My PCP told me to ask for my annual eye exam by an ophthalmologist who is board certified. my doctor also told me that a referral for annual eye exam DOES NOT require a referral. What's my next step?

I also have Humana Gold Plus and have never needed a referral. I go to South Florida Vision and they are great plus have several locations. They have Optometry and Opthamology both at their 2900 Cypress Creek Road location.
