I would like to use hand tools only for woodworking. What is the best way to understand wood planes? I am confused about the different angles of the blade. Thank you.

Agreed check woodcraft class schedule. Also tons of YouTube video on hand planes.

If you don't want to use YouTube, ask at Woodcraft. There is at least one employee that has extensive knowledge specifically about hand planes that I can think of.

Books and classes will help you get started. Experience/practice too. I'm not great at hand planes , just my thoughts.
