The falls were always closed to swimming all the water is off limits but some still do it. The trail on top takes you right to the overlook for vewing. Nice little walk about 1/2 mile maybe. Keep the little ones close as the trail does get thin in spots. Bring your camera, a bottle of water and a small bag to carry your trash out. Picnic tables and play area on top . As you drive in parking spots after the ball field and trail is to the right. For picnic area pass those parking spots go through the gate and it is on your left. Enjoy! Ps don't forget your bug spray.
. u can walk to 100 yards from top of Falls any closer and you will be passing no trespassing markers and would face a $250 fine. The rest of the park you are free to swim and hike
The warning signs on the trail are there for a very good reason! Everyone, adults and children, looks can be deceiving! When walking the upper trail it can appear as though you're on top of tree covered terrain, when in reality, below, are treacherous, vertical walls of layered rock, CLIFFS! Use extreme caution and stay on the trail!
People do walk in the creek from the picnic area when the water is low. which I have done also. I am not 100% sure if that is allowed or not. I know there are trails but I have never pursue them. The park has provided a nice little walk to a platform which you can view the Falls safely. If you are looking for more information you can also contact 518-673-5512. I hope this was helpful to you.
