Often overlooked, but so worth the visit. We stopped by on our bike trip. Friendly, clean and informative. World class artwork to see.

This museum is a hidden gem. My husband and I have visited twice while traveling

A piece of history around the Mohawk River, definitely worth a visit.

Neat little museum in Canajoharie. Prominently featured are paintings by Winslow Homer. A copy of Gilbert Stuart's George Washington is also in the museum. Several works depicting the Mohawk Valley region are are also presented. The museum also does a nice job with the history of the Beech-Nut factory. Featured are ads displayed from the 1920's and 1930's. Along, with the history of Beech-Nut the story of the Arkell family is provided. Also, photographs and stories about working in the factory. The museum does a good job presenting information for each painting as well. Rotating galleries are also a part of the museum. The exhibit on "granges" in New York State was interesting. Museum is fairly priced and staff is helpful.

Hi! This is a great question. While we are not formally part of Museums for All we will look into joining. Until then we will happily honor SNAP program participants with free admission to the Arkell Museum.
The Arkell Museum is a 501c3 designated organization. It has an original endowment from its founder Bartlett Arkell, and receives support from the Arkell Foundation. The Museum also does extensive fundraising, receives state grants, and is supported by other private foundations.
Pictures are allowed in the Arkell Museum and Canajoharie Library. This includes the museum galleries. Please refrain from using a flash. Thank you!
