I think the bookings are for 4 hours. Also when you drive there, there will be a line of cars waiting to get into rock springs in the right lane, put on your hazard lights pull up to the traffic officer and let him know you are going to kings landing, not rock springs bypass all the traffic.

I've spent 4 hours there and we used the canoe for 3 people, it was plenty of time to do both side, left and right.
