Yes. It is a body of water in Florida, always assume there could be gators, snakes, raccoons, etc. Stay in your kayak and if you need to get out, only if there are other people around.

I've never NOT seen a gator, although I tend to be one of the earlier people down the run when I go every other month, before they get scared back under water. They have never been an issue though, as they are skiddish and not a problem if given thier space. Never get out if you can't see through the water clearly - plenty of safer spots to take a lunch break around the campgroubds where the water is clearer and shallow so you are aware of your surroundings.

I have been going here over 20 years. Yes I've seen them. But they are small and very shy. If you make a lot of noise you will not see them. Watch your little ones close and stay out of deep water and you'll be fine. Have fun and happy rowing!😀
