The day we were there affected the store hours because hwy 1 was being closed down going back to Lompoc at 6pm. This caused a ripple affect that they had to let staff go home early.
Yes there is day use going on but does fill up quite quickly. They shuttle you in for parking 1 at a time as one person leaves when day use is full. The wait isn't too bad even with 10 to 15 cars we got in about 25 to 35 min later and that was around 1130am to 1230 pm I believe. The ranger said that groups of surfers that come early in the morning tend to leave in the afternoon. Either way go early or mid afternoon the beach has been incredible! The weather has been amazing with hardly any wind.. Jalama is known for its gusty conditions but lately its been killer!Jalama is a well kept beach. We've gone every weekend now for past 3 weeks and will continue to go because besides a good old fashioned walk what the hell else can we really do right now. Highly recommend this beach and its about 14 miles from the turnoff on HWY 1. The road narrows at points and winds through the hills building the excitement before you drop down to the beautiful beach. Enjoy!
We went on the 17th and there was. We enjoyed a delicious Jalama burger and hanged out at the beach
Went there for day use on 8/18,19,20 and day use was available every day
Stayed there 22-24th. Yes, we saw day use being allowed
