yesterday our cat slipped off a counter and injured his back leg. he is still limping.

I would say go to your local vet first.. I had a very good experience at AMC, but it's an old place, looks a bit rundown. I was referred by my vet for dental. Think it could go either way there, I was lucky. Hope this is helpful.
