WORST VISIT EVER! Abort while you can! I’ve never in my life waited 13 hours for a cat visit. The staff mentioned it would be 3 hours not 13. The receptionist later tells me they are short of tech staff. Looks like this is the norm here. $800 for an X-ray, visit and sedation. Yet all they could say is “we have to refer the image out to a radiologist”. So why are we waiting 10 hours past the wait time if you’re finished? I feel like you’re holding my cat hostage and I just keep asking to take him and go home. Awful awful. I truly hate this place. One visit and never ever again!! Don’t waste your time or mine with the generic response. So traumatized by this place.

VERG is a very good speciality hospital where we were referred to go and treat Lucy ( my 7 year old Rottweiler) who had a forelimb lameness along with a small mass aka a skin tag. Dr. Morgan who is the Orthopedic Surgeon was great at removing the mass and advising us to bring Lucy’s weight down to 119 IBS which my husband and I did diligently through portion control and a walk regimen. Her mass removal surgery was successful and we saved money by helping Lu lose weight The staff over there is very friendly and professional as they were very accommodating and kind to us through out our experience. .

Please do not take your pet here if there is an emergency!! All they want is the money. I took my dog here after she started to have breathing issues and they took her in the back and claim they did an ultrasound and etc. and they contacted us through the phone not even in person to inform us of her condition. They told me my dog had masses in her lungs meaning she had lung cancer and insisted on putting her to sleep right then and there with no care about how we would feel. A lot of the things they were saying did not add up so we decided to take her to another pet hospital where they told us she did not have lung cancer but she had a pyometra and fluid in her lungs. They completely misdiagnosed her. Please take your pet to VEG another pet emergency hospital not VERG as they check on your pet right in front of you and are so nice and helpful.

There is a shortage of trained people to work in the field, I've been told. However, over the course of two years I have had an identical experience multiple times - hours waiting between short exchanges with no sense of progression. Waiting room mostly empty with minimal staff movement. People can be hired and trained if you're willing to compensate them and treat them with more dignity than is extended to frozen and miserable pet caretakers. Staff is good but clearly not enough to make up for the staggeringly poor organization. Everyone resigned to casually abusing people.

Verg will work with you if you don't have enough money for the vet ... They are pricey but they help you apply for vet credit its like a credit card for veterinary care ... If you don't get accepted and you don't have good credit ... You can ask to apply for a grant through a not for profit fund called Positive Tails and they will pay your vet bill ... You fill out an application and tell them why you need this grant and if you have financial hardship ... Once you are approved they will pay your vet bill ... I wish you luck with your kitten ... Saying prayers
Take it to VERG to get assessed and treated.
Verg will begin treatment on your pup if you take it in. I suggest you go and let them see what is wrong. They would think they would work out a payment plan with you. There is also a credit card you can apply for called care credit that is specifically for vet/ Dr. bills. Verg can give you the info. I would atleast take your dog over. I don't think they would refuse treatment. Just my two cents.
they'll check him now. its like an ER for animals
Hi Kara there are a couple of tricks I have used if you weren't successful already. I have thrown a towel over there head. Sounds mean but it just helps calm them and then they don't see the carrier coming and I get them right in kind of wrapped in a towel. I also have used a Tupperware bin with holes cut out on the sides for air for one of my super hard ones....he used to be feral. I drop it over him and then slid the lid carefully under. Thats for very hard extreme cases. I hope you were able to get your cat help. VERG is amazing they saved my kitties life.
Verg is Very expensive place... ..I would suggest going to a aspca
I would plan for $1,000+, especially since anesthesia will be involved. We had to get a urine culture and an xray for our dog and it was over $500.
You can call and ask them for an opinion. I had a similar issue and ended up bringing my cat in just in case
VERG does perform euthanasia. Your animal will be sedated and then quietly put to sleep.
Yes, they were located on Warren St. for several years.
Hi Jermaine, I am so sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, we do not see birds. Birds are very delicate and we recommend seeing a veterinarian who specializes in them. You should try searching exclusively for a veterinarian who deals with birds. Best of luck- Michele T Hospital Manager
