A strange thing about McDonald's in Indianapolis is that if you ask for some kind of ice cream or shake they tell you the machine "is turned off so it can clean itself" and it is that way all night and usually all morning and part of the evening. So it is "off so it can clean itself" about 12 continuous hours of the day, and maybe other times too. If you are the first one to get them to give you a shake it's hard to tell what they will give you except it's not frozen, not mixed, and is mostly vanilla sludge with a few swirls of strawberry or chocolate in it. If it is cleaning itself then people aren't doing it so it's hard knowing what you are getting. There was recently a worker somewhere in the country who took a picture of a McDonald's ice cream machine that cleans itself and posted it online. He was fired because it showed all sorts of mold growing in the machine. It's hard to tell why McDonald's in Indianapolis turns off its ice cream machines for 12 hours at a time.
