My husband and I actually took our dog there and DNR got us. We were told that because of the wildlife: gators and possible coyotes and things. That our dog was not allowed in the park.

I don't recall seeing a sign not allowing pets. I would keep your pet on a leash and carry a bag. Sometimes part of the trail can be under water a bit, not now though, even with the recent showers. Also the county recently did some work on the trail.
