No, they don't. Broward County has a no kill effort to save all healthy adoptable animals. If a stray is healthy, or only needs basic care, there's a hold period so the owner has a chance to claim the animal, then it's available to the public for adoption. If an animal isn't healthy, the county works with a bunch of local rescue groups that take the sick or injured animals, raise funds to get animals the care they need, and then they run the adoptions. Broward Animal Care saves a lot of lives by working with so many rescue groups. Generally speaking, the only animals that are euthanized by Broward Animal Care are extremely sick, injured beyond recovery, or otherwise not viable. The Humane Society is a different story. They euthanize healthy animals indiscriminately and don't have the rescue partnership programs for sick and injured animals. Do not bring an animal there if you want it to have a chance to live.
